In January the ACT won its 10th national title in 12 years with finals MVP Kirkpatrick expected to once again captain the Australian side.
"We've had a pretty good run of talent in Canberra lately, a lot of good coaches has seen our young players develop and rise through the ranks."
Clare Warwick and Vanessa Stokes were picked in the women's team which has seem plenty of success on the world stage over the years.
Alongside the USA, Australia are the only team to medal at all four Olympics where softball was competed, from 1996-2008.
"Clare has been there for a long time and Vanessa getting again picked is great, she's an exceptional player and deserves it," Kirkpatrick said.
