Hello Everyone,
Â
I hope everyone has had a good winter and are reading to be back at the diamond. Â If you were at the Callander Tournament last September i may have met you (your e-mails were provided to me by Dwight Beer). I also wanted to take the opportunity to also introduce ourselves and myself. Â Currently the Silver Foxes Fastball tournament is the longest standing event in North Bay. Â Our organization originated as a Old-timers military fastball team that played in a downtown league and competed at the Canadian Forces Region and National Championships. Â In the early 2000s, the CF eliminated fastball from their sports program, but there was still plenty of players, so the team was stood up as a Base club and has existed as such since then. Â Our organization/players is comprised of active duty, reserve members, retired veterans, and civilian members.
Â
I just wanted to get the details out on our tournament for the upcoming season. Â Hopefully by starting much earlier we can get a confirmed amount of teams so our budget can be more accurate than last season. Â Once again we are trying to expand the tournament back to where it was 5 - 6 years ago (8-10 teams), so I am looking to get at least 6 out-of-town teams and already have two confirmed (Travelers/Tigers from Wiky (Lawrence Ennose) and a team from Manitoulin Island(Andrew Corbiere)). Â I have also posted the tournament announcement on the Northern Ontario Fastball Facebook page, with all my contact info. Â
Â
Please see the attached document which lays out in detail our tournament. Â As soon as we get all the teams confirmed (entry fee paid), we will distribute the schedule. Â If you are travelling from a distance and request to either play late on the Friday night or start on Saturday (expect an early game) then please indicate that when you register. Â I am sure you all have been to North Bay, but I will send out a list of hotels than are close to the base, along with instructions to the diamond. Â We only have one diamond, but there is lights, so games can go well into the evening if necessary.
Â
I look forward to hearing from you, and hope you take the opportunity to come and join us this year.
Â
Regards,
Â
