ACT to host Under 19 Men’s Softballtitle
The Australian Under 19 Men’s Fastpitch Championshipwill be held at Hawker International Softball Centre in Hawker, ACT from 21-27January 2007.
Victoria has won the championship the lasttwo years, after knocking four-time winners ACT out of contention in thesemi-final last year.
The championship will be officially opened by Mr JonStanhope, Chief Minister for the ACT, on Sunday 21 January at 10am.
This year's championship features six teams (ACT, NSW, Qld,Vic, Tas, WA) and a double round robin format will be played over the firstfive days of competition. The top four teams after the round robin series willqualify for the finals with page system finals.
The Nox Bailey Shield provides junior men softball playersthe opportunity to be selected to represent Australia in theinternational arena in the Australian Under 19 Men’s team, the AussieColts.
The Aussie Colts are currently ranked number one in theworld after winning three consecutive International Softball Federation JuniorMen’s Fastpitch Championship titles.
This championship just may produce the next Adam Folkard(ACT) who currently holds three world pitching records and won the YoungAustralian Male Softballer of the Year Award four years in a row (2003-2006).
This championship is also a stepping stone into theAustralian Men’s team, Aussie Steelers, who are currently ranked third inthe world.
