2018 ISC WORLD TOURNAMENT IN KITCHENER, ONTARIO – By Gary Baughman

 

 

Well I got home alive.

I had a great time in Kitchener. I saw every game on Field 1, the main diamond all week.

 

I want people to know some facts: I did not retire. I did not quit... I was told they no longer needed a statistician because they have Point Streak. Of course Point Streak is “perfect”.

 

If anyone has a problem with the scoring on their site, they can email the ISC. Please EMAIL IT TO ME AS WELL AS I WANT THE LIFE TIME OF STATS TO BE GOOD.

I did 40 games a year for several years so I know the stats system and point streak as well or better than anyone.  I wish I was still in the ISC doing my job.

 

That was not really why I am writing this. I want very much to thank some folks:

 

The people working at the Holiday Inn in Kitchener that I stayed at were incredible. The helped me every day especially Sunday when I locked my keys in the van. I believe the manager was Tristin. He helped me load out my things. He fixed so I could use the phone to find a locksmith to open the door. The folks at the front desk helped get my Computer bag and cooler to and from my van. I would definitely advise anyone needing a Hotel to stay there. I don't usually care for Hotels but I sure do this one.

 

Now I lived at Peter Hallman Ballyard for 8 days loved it had a marvelous shed beyond the leftfield fence. Had Matt Allen that I worked for putting scores with winning and losing pitcher on a form for each game all tournaments to be posted by Matt. He kept the information flowing.

 

But the man I sat with most was Co-chair of the Host committee, Bernie Burnett. What a great man. He was fun to be around and very smart. He hauled me in and out of the shed. He took my van to Elmira and got me new tires I needed. Never would have gotten home without them. Every person out volunteering did a great job thanks to all. But especially Bernie and to Larry Cox the other co-chair who was also very helpful.

Now out in front of my shed was some lovely grass. That became the place of choice to sit and watch the game. A group of fans gathered there every day. Had a lot of interaction with them. Off to my right was a Buffalo Bills canopy owned by Hervey Hand was there with his wife and others. Now Hervey is the man who sends me pictures of the game sheets from the tournaments held at Elkland PA.  By the way there is an event their coming up this weekend. Box scores on Al's fastball.     Thank you again for all the fun I had which out done the problems I had.
