Wellington, NZ - - Eden and Marino re-join Golden Homes Black Sox
Softball New Zealand are pleased to announce that Casey Eden has been reappointed Team Manager in conjunction with Darryl Marino as Assistant Coach of the Golden Homes New Zealand Black Sox.

Both men will reunite with Head Coach Mark Sorenson as a trio for back to back campaigns in an attempt to regain their former world crown.

The Black Sox, who not only finished fourth at the WBSC World Cup in Prague last June, also lost their phenomenal streak of 10 consecutive finals, a record they had held since 1984.

Marino who has been by Sorenson’s side since 2013 says “ I’m excited and honoured to be a part of the Golden Holmes Black Sox as we prepare for the 2021 World Cup in New Zealand.â€

“There is a lot of hard work ahead of us, for the athletes and the Management group. I’m looking forward to working alongside the entire group as we all strive to improve ourselves individually and as a group,†he says.

“It’s a great time to be in Men’s softball as the quality around the world is improving every year. Working together we can take on the challenge the rest of the world have set and build on the Black Sox legacy,†he says.

Eden who is back for his second world championship say’s “I am very grateful and excited about the opportunity to be involved with the Black Sox again.â€

“Our results in 2019 were a bitter pill to swallow, but after an open and honest review, we believe we are in a good position to learn from our mistakes,†he says.

“Playing at home brings with it some unique challenges but we believe it is a positive in allowing us to plan the best campaign possible,†he says.
