Auckland, NZ - - FASTBALL45 - Southern Regional Qualifier
FASTBALL 45 rolled out it's inaugural National League in Auckland last weekend, and it delivered!
Four male, and four female teams battled their way through each other to determine the right to represent the northern region at the grand finals.
Central Auckland Bolts were victorious in the men with a 6-4 win over East Auckland Heat, while West Waves were triumphant over Central Rays in the women, 6-5.
This weekend will see the Southern teams tear it up in a clash to see which male and female teams will qualify for the final show down in Auckland 11-13 Dec.

OFFENSIVE DECLARATION RULE
Softball NZ is introducing a new rule to FASTBALL 45 – Offensive Declaration.
The rule will provide teams an opportunity to declare their batting innings finished at any point in the game. We envision with time running out, the batting team at the top of the innings may take the lead and then wish to ‘declare’ so as to try and get three outs for the match, all before time runs out.
Several games during last weekend’s Northern Regional Qualifier highlighted the need for such a rule.
FASTBALL 45 is fantastic product, a product that is in its infancy, and one that will require further modifications to allow it to evolve.
The Offensive Declaration Rule
Â
In all games during the competition, including finals, the batting team may declare their innings closed at any time, but only once during the game.
