MIDLAND, Texas –– Members of the 2020-21 USA Softball Women’s National Team (WNT) have arrived in Midland, Texas as the team continues preparations on the “Stand Beside Her” tour, presented by Major League Baseball (MLB) with two doubleheaders set for June 11-12, 2021. Home of the Midland RockHounds, a minor league baseball Double-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, Midland will host the Red, White and Blue as they look to capture the Gold Medal in Tokyo where the sport of softball returns to the Olympic program for the first time since 2008.
 
In Midland, the Red, White and Blue will compete in four exhibition contests against “Team Alliance”, which will be made up of 18 collegiate and two professional athletes supported by The Alliance Fastpitch member leagues. Collegiate athletes competing with Team Alliance include Sis Bates (Washington), Georgina Corrick (USF), Carrie Eberle (Oklahoma State), Taylor Ellsworth (Texas), Montana Fouts (Alabama), Kamryn Gibbs (Lubbock Christian), Lou Gilbert (Baylor), Karlie Hamilton (Texas Tech), Skylar Herrera (Lubbock Christian), Janae Jefferson (Texas), Baylee Klinger (Washington), Kayla Kowalik (Kentucky), Tyla Lee (Lubbock Christian),  Kelly Maxwell (Oklahoma State), Meghan Schorman (Kentucky), Macy Simmons (Arizona State), Savannah Wysocki (Lubbock Christian) and Missy Zoch (Texas Tech) while Aubrey Leach and Kiki Stokes from Athletes Unlimited join the roster for the doubleheader matchups.

 

Played at Momentum Bank Ballpark (5514 Champions Drive, Midland, Texas 79706), Team USA will kick off on Friday, June 11 with a doubleheader beginning at 5:30 p.m. CT followed by another doubleheader on Saturday, June 12 at 5:30 p.m. CT. Gates will open at 4 p.m. CT. Game two for both days will take place approximately 35 minutes after the conclusion of game one. Live stats will be available at USASoftball.com.

The Midland “Stand Beside Her” tour stop will mark the first time in the 2021 season that the entire Red, White and Blue squad will compete together, with Bubba Nickles (Merced, Calif.), Rachel Garcia (Palmdale, Calif.) and Dejah Mulipola (Garden Grove, Calif.) joining the Women’s National Team after concluding their collegiate seasons. Team USA heads into tomorrow’s contest with a 15-0 record on the “Stand Beside Her” tour, presented by MLB, collectively hitting .331 with six batters hitting over .300. Haylie McCleney (Morris, Ala.) leads the offense with 24 hits and seven home runs while tallying an eight-game hit-streak on the pre-Olympic tour. In the circle, the U.S. pitching staff totals 155 strikeouts with Cat Osterman (Houston, Texas) leading the way with 60 K’s followed by Monica Abbott (Salinas, Calif.) with 36 and Ally Carda (Elk Grove, Calif.) with 32.
