Bob Mills lived his entire life in the fastball lane.
The longtime Ted Dilts pitcher carried his love for the sport every where he went -- and it was evident even after a round of golf in Florida.
"I remember he popped open his trunk to put his clubs away and he had about five aluminum bats in there," former teammate Bob Gilbert said. "He would still take batting practice two or three times a week. He looked at the bats, they were the ones that cost about $250 each, and said, 'Do you want one?' I'd say, 'Bob, I stopped playing ball 30 years ago.'"
The London man known as "The Chopper" never stopped playing. He died Monday during the drive home from his six-month stay on Florida's Gulf Coast at age 60.
