On Friday July 4th, Toanche Park in Penetanguishene and Lafontaine Park in Lafontainewill be welcoming 16 teams from across the province to compete in the Ontario Amateur Softball Association Junior Elimination Tournament. Teams from Kitchener, Owen Sound, Elmira, Oshawa, Napanee, Glanworth, Ponsonby, Scarborough, Waterloo, Fingal, Smiths Falls, Newmarket, Mitchell and the hometown Toanche team will be competing to represent Ontario at the Canadians in August in Owen Sound. The top 3 teams along with the Owen Sound Selects will move on to the Canadian Championship. The top team at the end of the championship will be declared the A Provincial Champion. The Scarborough Wolverines will be here to defend their provincial title. They were also the Canadian Champions in 2007.
Games begin Friday at 5 p.m. and continue until Sunday, with the Championship game at 1 p.m. at Toanche Park. Due to the number of games being played, they will be split between Toanche and Lafontaine Parks. Admission fee for the entire weekend is only $5.00.
