With the start of the Impact printing cup last night the Hitmen rolled into the start of competition with a 4 -1 record.
With the lights warming up the cold night air of Altona Ballpark the 2008/09 season finally kicked off.
With one game last night the Hitmen took on the boys from Berwick in a cross town clash.
The Team from Berwick making the 1.5 hour long drive arcoss Melbourne for one hell of a game.
The top of the first seen Jim Grego shut out a strong Berwick top order leaving a runner on 2nd, In the bottom of the 1st
the Hitmen's batstarted strong with Todd Grego leading the game off with a walk stealing seacond and third and coming in on a Ashton Edwards single,
Edwards stole seconds and then scored on a Jim Grego single.
That is where the score remaind for 5 inns with a strong performance from both pitchers.
In the bottom of the fifth the Hitmen posted one more run from the bat of Callum Homes to make the score 3 - 0
Jim Grego shut out the Berwick top order in the top of 7 for a solid home win also not forgetting the great performance from young
catcher Danny Ingram who was solid behinf the dish all night
Now the Hitmen sit at 5 -1 on the season with there next action against a very strong Metrans Couriers line up.
