The Port Elgin Blue Devils have confirmed they will seek entry into the ISC Eastern Canada Travel League for 2009.Blue Devils Manager Jim MacKinnon made the announcement following a team meeting on Sunday.
The Blue Devils have dominated the competition in the Bluewater League for the last half decade and they felt if they were to improve they truly needed to see better pitching.
MacKinnon relates the Blue Devils will also remain in the Bluewater League and play a full schedule with essentially the same roster that will apply for admission to the ISC.
The primary need for the Blue Devils is pitching, and while MacKinnon won't tip his hand, he does admit they have an elite pitcher in mind and they hope to obtain a committment from that player in the short term.
The Blue Devils roster is virtually set.
MacKinnon admits he's received calls from players outside of the organization expressing an interest in joining the Port Elgin squad, however, outside of a new pitcher, he doesn't anticipate adding any players.
The Blue Devils will make a formal application to enter the Eastern Canada Travel league in early January and a scheduling meeting is set for February..
The Owen Sound Volkswagen Junior Selects and another Senior Men's team based out of Owen Sound are also expected to compete in the ISC league in 2009.
