Cards and Hawks win Third Straight

CARDS AND HAWKS WIN THIRD STRAIT
Both Native teams from the Rick McDonald Memorial Fastball League have jumped into in first place tie on top of the league standings after collecting each their strait win Thursday night at the Lorne Brady Park in Garson.
In the opener , the winless Athletics(0-5) came up with their best effort of the season when veteran , Ed Brennan , faced only 27 batters , gave up just six hits , fanned a season high 10 batters but came up on the short end of a 4-1 loss. Jonathan Contin (now 4-1) continued his winning ways going the distance for the Cardinals of Pickerel River giving up just a single run , a solo home run in the bottom of the third off the bat of J.P. Miron . Curt Hembly led the way for the Cardinals with a perfecr evening at bat , a 3 for 3 performanvce which included a solo home run in the first frame while J.P. Miron for the Athletics also went perfect in a losing cause with a 3 for 3 at the dish with also a silo home run .
In the nightcap under the lights , the newsest member of the league in 2009 , Parry Island Hawks , also came uop with their third strait victory a 6-1 win over the Garson Hounds (3-2) . Matt Tobobundung (4-0) remained undefeated with his third victory of the `season .He went the distance giving up just 4 hits striking out seven batters. Al Guenette came in for relief in the seventh frame and gave uo the only run a solo home run by Robbie Edwards . Gary Lamothe (3-2) was tagged with his second loss of the season giving up 7 hits and fanning five batters . Percy Tobobundung (tripple), Jim Pawis (double) and Matt Tobobundung (solo home run ) led the way for the winners all hitting 2 for 3 while Matt Behm hit 2 for 4 in a losing cause for the Hounds of Garson.
Play will resume on Monday night June 22nd at the Rick McDonald Memorial Park in Azilda . In the opener at 7 PM its the 3-2 Garson Hounds taking on the 4-1, first place Pickerel River Cardinals while in the nightcap under the lights for 9 PM the 4th place Dog House North Stars (1-3) face the first place Parry Island Hawks (4-1).
