Bridgeport Braves and K-W Cubs host New Zealand Black Sox

Two long standing members of the South Perth Men’sFastball League will get their first ever chance at international competitionthis evening when they tackle the New Zealand Black Sox in a double header scheduledfor Woodside Parkin Kitchener. The Bridgeport Braves will get the opening game nod beginning at 7:15 p.m.while the Kitchener-Waterloo Cubs will close out the nightcap at 9:15 p.m.Opening ceremonies hosted by the ubiquitous John Thompson will begin at 6:45p.m.
Woodside Park, located at the corner of Highland Road and Queen’s Boulevardwas the gem of Kitchenersoftball parks long before the Peter Hallman complex was constructed. Surroundedby mature trees and home to the Ontario Fastball League’s Kitchener Prideand Evergreens of the 1970’s and 80’s, it remains a beautiful placeto catch a ball game.
New Zealand are coming off asolid performance in the World Fastball Invitational tournament in Monkton thispast weekend. They are playing a number of local, rural and grass routes teamsas they move onwards towards the ISF World Tournament later this month in Saskatoon.
Admission to the games this evening is only $5.00 at thegate.
