TSNand TSN2 to Broadcast Canadian Softball Games this Weekend!
(Ottawa,ON) – Softball Canada is extremely proud to announce that TSN and TSN2 will air a pair of high-profile softball games this weekend. On Saturday, July 18, the Canadian Senior Women’s National Team will face the United States at the KFCWorld Cup of Softball 4 in a game that can be seen live on TSN2 at 1:00pm EDT.On Sunday, July 19th, the Men’s Slo-Pitch Border Battle betweenCanada and the United States will air on TSN at 4:00pm EDT. Both games willtake place at the Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, OK.
“TheTV coverage and ticket sales that the World Cup of Softball will enjoy over thenext few days will showcase the passion, fair play, and excitement of our sportto an international audience” stated ISF President Don Porter, who will throwout the ceremonial first pitch of the opening game of the event on Thursday.
Softballwas first featured in the 1996 Olympic Summer Games in Atlanta and last year’sOlympic competition in Beijing was very successful with a total attendanceclose to 180,000 and a continuation of the sport’s excellent record of nopositive doping tests at any of the four previous Olympic Summer Games that thesport has been a part of.
final decision on which sports will be added to the current roster of 26 at the2016 Olympic Summer Games will be made at the 121st IOC Session in Copenhagenin October later this year.
TheMen’s Slo-Pitch Border Battle between Canada and the United States marks thefirst time this event will be held.
