Re: ISF XII WorldMen’s Softball Championship Botswanaadventure
An amazing story of generosity and ingenuity came yesterdayfrom the World Men’s Softball Championship. The team from Botswana arrived in Saskatoonwithout luggage as it was stuck in Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris. They werescheduled to take on Denmarkin the first game of the tournament at 10:00 the next morning. With less than12 hours before the first game the team was with out gloves, bat, cleats anduniforms. John Linklater from Al Anderson’s Source for Sports was sitting atthe sponsor/team pre tournament social when he realized he could do somethingabout this problem. As As a result of a number of phone calls, along with thecooperation of his suppliers and a few contacts he worked well into the morningto get the team outfitted. On Friday morning he sat in the stands with pride, watching Botswana play their hearts out inthe equipment he got for them. The only thing that prevented a true Cinderellastory was the fact that Denmark outscored them 4-1, but john will be in thestands next game watching his newly adopted favorite team when they play theJapanese tomorrow at 1:30
