THE "SWEDE" AND "E-MAN" ARE BACK
There was a week in delay but top pitchers from the league Jordy "Swede" Dalvick of the North Stars and Eric "E-man" Abitong from the Garson Hounds made their first appearance on the mound this week .
On Monday night in Azilda at the Rick McDonald Memorial Park , Jordy led his mates to a 7-6 victory over the Whitefish Lake First Nation Steelers . Dalvick pitched the first five innings with a 7-3 lead handing over the mound to John Ainsley who gave up 3 runs to make it a close 7-6 victory . Henry Nootchtai pitched the first 5 innings giving up all 7 runs to suffer the mound defeat. Al Guenette took over in the sixth not giving up a run .Steve Sabourin led the way for the winners with a perfect 3 for 3 at the dish(run scored, double , 2 RBI's) ..Teammates Bruce MacDonald and Ben Bast both went 2 for 2 with one base on balls. Justin Nootchtai hit 2 for 4 (double, run scored) in a losing cause for the Steelers.
On Wednesday night in Whitefish , the Garson Hounds took on the Pickerel River Cardinals for their first taste of action in 2010. The game was called in the fifth with the Hounds leading 8-0 (mercy rule of 7 runs comes into effect-Softball Ontario ruling) .Eric Abitong went the distance for the Hounds giving up but 5 hits while fanning 3 batters and not issuing a single base on balls . Jonathan Contin (0-2) also went the distance for the Cardinals giving up 8 runs , all earned , 11 hits and issuing two base on balls . Doug Foley of the Hounds led all hitters going a perfect 3 for 3 (2 tripples,two runs scored and 4 runs batted in ) . Teammates Eric Abitong and Todd Parsons(tripple.two runs scored, RBI) both went 2 for 3 . Jonathan Contin hit 2 for 32 (both doubles) in a losing cause for the Cardinals.
Play resumes Thursday night with a doubleheader starting at 7 PM at the Lorne Brady Memorial Park in Garson .
