Aurora Dolan & Murphy at NAFA Open
July 27, 2010
Middleton, WI
The Aurora Dolan & Murphy Shamrocks moved to 29-12 on the season going 3-2 to take 5th place at the NAFA Open this past weekend. After 2 losses on Saturday, Aurora was able to salvage the weekend with 3 consecutive wins on Sunday capturing the NAFA Open Consolation Championship (NAFA AAA bracket). Congratulations to Jim Pecoraro and David Schuett who were selected to the all tournament team.
Aurora opened up with a 7-5 loss to the Colorado Rebels who went on to finish in 3rd place behind the strong pitching of David Beets. This was followed up with another close game, losing 2-0 to Kevin Kammeuller and the 2nd place finishing New Image.
On Sunday, the Shamrocks scored 2 quick runs in the first inning against Gerald Muizelaar and Kegal which turned out to be enough as Jeff Farion held the Kegal bats to only 1 run. Ales Jetmar took the ball in the second game against Willkomm Mobile in which David Schuett's 3-run homerun finally broke the 0-0 tie, propelling Aurora to the Consolation Championship game. Another fine performance by Jeff Farion in this 4-1 win over Wilber Lime who upset Kegel on Saturday and fell just short of upsetting the Bar in a 3-2 loss on Saturday as well.
Thanks to Jeff Farion for helping us out this weekend, we look forward to having him with us again at the ASA Men's Major in 2 weeks.
