ORILLIA,ON, (July 7, 2006) - With only one week togo before the first pitch is thrown at the longest running Major Men’sElite Fastball Tournament in Ontario, the organizing committee is hard at workto get everything in place. On the weekend of July 14th to 16th, the 9thAnnual Casino Rama World Series of Fastball will take place at Kitchener Park in Orillia Ontario, Canada. Thisis an opportunity to see the very best men’s fastball players inthe world, as many of the world’s National Team players will be competingon their various club teams.
Ten teams willcompete to win the prestigious tournament title and a share of the prize purse.

NEW FOR 2006
For the first time in the eight year tournamenthistory, the Casino Rama World Series of Fastball will feature a hostteam. The Sharks feature National Team members from Canada, United States and New Zealand. The team also features two of the bestyoung positional players today in outfielder Steve Mullaley (from Newfoundland)and shortstop Ian Fehrman (from Ontario). The River Sharks will beattempting to do what no Canadian team has been able to do in the previouseight years of the tournament, become the first Canadian team to win the CasinoRama World Series of Fastball title.
As good as the action is already at the Casino Rama WorldSeries of Fastball, the organizing committee has worked very hard to add evenmore excitement to the weekend. This year the tournament will kick offwith an exhibition double header on Thursday, July 13th at Kitchener Park in Orillia. The Orillia River Sharks (the current # 3 ranked teamin the World) will be on hand to take on the Orillia & District FastballLeague All-Stars. Games will begin at 7:00 PM.
The actual Tournament games will get under way on bothdiamonds at 4:30 PM on Friday, July 14. All ten teams willbe in action on Friday evening with the feature game of the evening starting at 8:45 pm between the #3 ranked River Sharks and the #2 ranked Farm Tavern.
The layout of the park has been changed for this year’stournament. The beer tent has been increased in size and relocated toalong the 3rd base line of the lower diamond. Our signature,large souvenir merchandise tent has been relocated to the lower diamond as partof a tent mall that is being created and the souvenir tent will be set-up with variousshirts, hats, jackets as well as some new non-traditionalsouvenir items. MAKE SURE YOU STOP IN AND SEE THE NEW ITEMS. We arealso hard at work designing a system to cover the player’s benches sothat they will be able to get in out of the sun
The Orillia Kinsmen Club will once again be on handsupporting the tournament by operating the gates into the tournament andselling 50/50 tickets to raise funds for all of their community projects. XM Satellite radio will be on hand throughout the weekend giving fans theopportunity to try out this new radio system. As well, representativesthe Kitchener Promotions Organization will be on hand handing out informationon this year’s “International Softball Congress” WorldChampionship Tournament in Kitchener, Ontario. Softball Ontariowill be on-hand during the day on Saturday, handing out information on theirvarious youth programs
