The Legends of Fastball Classic has become a benchmark in high standards for Ontario fastball over the past 7 years. The tradition continues again this summer when the best fastball players in the world compete at Kitchener’s Peter Hallman Ball Yard, June 23 – 26, 2011. The lineup right now includes ISC World Champion Jarvis Travellers, Chicago – New York Dominicana, New York Gremlins, Owen Sound Verge Selects, Kitchener Cubs, Elmira Expos, Quebec Combat, and the New Zealand Black Sox. There are still a few teams who are undecided but the last two spots will certainly be in for a battle with a quality lineup like this confirmed.
Last year for the first time a 4 team junior division proved to be a great success and the future stars certainly loved sharing the park with the current legends of the game. The success of the 2010 event has guaranteed another junior division this year and the hope is to expand to 6 teams. Ontario is rich in youth programs and development teams and the junior program brings a high quality and extremely competitive brand of fastball to the yard. This is a great opportunity for teams to gauge who to beat as the Ontario elimination event is just a couple weeks later in the season.
