Top fastball players in European Cup.
The reigning champions of the European countries meet for a week-long tournament, from august 22nd to august 27th, in Hørsholm, Denmark. 9 teams will be coming to the annual meet:
Chomutov Beavers, Czech Rep. (defending champs),
Spectrum Praha, Chech Rep.,
DVH, Holland,
Brasschaat Braves, Belgium,
Pessac Pantheres, France
Mrki Medvedi, Croatia,
Fastpitch Roma, Italy,
Magos de Tenerife, Spain,
Hørsholm Hurricanes, Denmark.
The European Softball Federation has allowed up to 3 pick up players for each team, and some interesting names has shown up on the recently published 30-man rosters. The Dutch team of DVH have several Northamerican players : Gerald Muizelaar, Kegel Black Knights, Dewy Dijk, Port Huron, Richard Haldane, Kolowna Renegades, BC, Mark Van Vliet, Hickson Reds. Also they have the best African pitcher, Tony Moyo, Botswana.
Roma has Argentinian pitcher Sebastian Gervasutti from Bar of Appleton on their roster. The Czech teams mostly have local players with star pitcher Lubos Vrbensky and ISC all world player (2006) Patrick Kolkus playing for Chomutov, and Dolan & Murphy’s Ales Jetmar pitching for Spectrum.
French teams are traditionally some of the weaker teams in Europe, but with pitchers Karl Gollan, PA Power and Bill Hillhouse, Chi/NY plus kiwi catcher Kevin Stockford things might change. The island team from Tenerife, Spain has Venezuelan slugger Joe Vilchez on the roster and finally the hosts Hørsholm Hurricanes will be playing with brothers Freddy (Jarvis Travelers) and Valdemar (Dolan & Murphy) Terkelsen, kiwi Frank Pointon (on the Black Sox roster) and Nathan Nukunuku, Black Sox star and ISC All World player.
Even though some of these players might not show up, it still looks like the strongest fastball tournament in Europe ever!
