                                                              HOUNDS WIN IN A SQEEKER

It has become a trend that the North Stars win even though they trail early in their games . Thursday night in the opener , it became a pitcher’s duel with Jonathan Contin of the Seminoles facing veteran Paul Lizotte of the Hounds . The Seminoles picked up their first hit in the opening frame then did not  see any hits till the 6th inning ..Lizotte seemed to be sailing beautifully until then . The Hounds took a 3-1 lead into the sixth . The Seminoles score 3 runs late in the game to take a 4-3 lead only to have the Hounds score two of their own on Dan Bidal’s clutch single to score the winning runs with one out . Paul Lizotte going all the way picked up his second victory giving up  4 runs (3 unearned) on 5 hits while fanning 4 batters  and issuing 4 base on balls . Jonathan Contin went the distance and suffered the loss for the Seminoles . Dan Bidal of the Hounds led the way with a 2 for 3 performance and 3 RBI’s while Brendon Biederman hit 2 for 2 (2 base on balls) in a losing way for the First Nation Seminoles .
In the nightcap , the North Stars remained undefeated with a 8-4 victory over the Dog House . Though the final score may not indicate it , this was by far the best performance by the Dog House . Brad Matheson started and picked up the mound victory with Lanny Fichette taking over in the fifth .Both pitcher combined to give up 4 runs (all earned) on 4 hits while issuing 3 base on balls . Pat Brennan Sr went the distance for the Dog House giving up 8 runs ( 4 unearned) on 7 hits , fanning 3 batters) and not issuing a single base on balls . The North Star defense came up with 3 double plays giving them 4 this season .They are the only team with double plays . Jesse St Cyr led the North Stars with a 2 for 2 performance while Butch Nogonash hit 1 for 3 in a losing cause for the Dog House.
Don’t forget this coming weekend the 13th Annual Rick McDonald Memorial Fastball League in Azilda . Games get underway on Saturday at the Rick McDonald Memorial Park.
League play resumes on Monday  June the 11th in Azilda when the  first place undefeated North Stars take on the surging Garson Hounds at 7 PM followed by the nightcap under the lights a 9 PM where the Dog House will be searching for their first points in battle with the First Nation Seminoles .
