There's been a lot of talk and my inbox is full of emails asking about the status of Erie 2013.  A rumor has been circulating that the tournament has cancelled.  It hasn't, at least not yet. But we are at a crossroads.Â

Last year, the ASA moved the Men's Major to the weekend of Erie forcing me to move the dates of the 2012 Erie tournament.  There were apparently a few different reasons this happened but, despite my best efforts, I couldn't get a dialogue going with ASA. Ashland Stockpack's Chad Honaker was the only person to stay in touch with me about it, keeping me in the loop on dates and stuff.

This year, Erie is again falling victim to a conflict.  This time with the OASA, who is holding their provincial championship on the same weekend as Erie.   With the Canadian Senior Men's Nationals in Ontario this year, many of the top teams in Ontario will be competing in the OASA tournament in hopes of qualifying for the Nationals.  I had been in touch with OASA about this and they are unable to move their tournament back a week due to conflicts with the diamonds/ballparks.   This situation is NOT the fault of OASA, at the time they set their tournament dates, they were unaware ASA would be moving their weekend again (back to August) and now it's too late to change it. Â

So, we have not cancelled as of now. But there are some uncertainties going forward.
