Playing in the first Mid-Atlantic Fastpitch Travel League weekend of the year, the NY Swashbucklers earned an ISC bid, making it to the championship game before succumbing to the #4 ranked Pennsylvania Power in a rematch of a championship game from two weeks prior.  After a 4 game round robin on Saturday, Swash opened the single elimination round with a 12-6 quarterfinal win over Riverside. In the semi-finals, a rematch of Saturday nights’ 1-0 pitcher’s duel between Jerlin “dirty†Rutt and Kyle Crawford of Globe produced another win for the Swash, this time 8-2. Swash was led on offense by Mike Hoadley and Robert Santiago, whose back to back HR’s Sunday morning keyed the breakout quarterfinal win, John Cronin and Josh Horton, whose 4 hit game also keyed the quarterfinal win. On the mound, Rutt picked up both the quarter-final and semi-final wins, going 6 innings in the quarters and giving up 2 runs before being lifted in the 7th with a big lead, and picking up the complete game win in the semi’s.
