Pioneer Days Men's Fastpitch Softball Tournament Final Stats

Salt Lake City, UT

The Larry H. Miller Memorial Pioneer Days Fast Pitch Sofball Tournament is under way at the Larry H. Miller Softball Complex in Salt Lake City, Utah. Tournament runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday with teams from California, Idaho, Colorado and Utah. Admission to the tournament is free. The results of the first two games are as follows:

6:00 PM Games

Game 1

Score: California A’s 10  Boise River Dogs 0

Winning Pitcher: Lucas Mata

Losing Pitcher: Shane Alder

MVP: Matt Palazzo, California A’s

Summary: Lucas Mata threw a 1 hitter and California tagged three big home runs to defeat the River Dogs

 

Game 2

Score: Lacey A’s 3 Granite Bakery 3

Winning Pitcher:

MVP: Pat Sagdal, Lacey A’s

Summary: After Lacey A’s jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the fifth, Granite Bakery scored 2 runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to come back and earn the tie.

Winning Pitcher: Steve Black

MVP: Nic Cole, Page Brake

Summary: Steve Black held Wasatch scoreless through 4 innings and Aaron Converse and Nate Miller both homered to lead Page to the victory.

 

 

Game 6

Score: Pueblo Bandits 16  Cal-State Builders 4

Winning Pitcher: Valdemar Terkelson

MVP: Ricky Moore, Pueblo Bandits


Summary: Valdemar Terkelson struck out 10 as Pueblo proved to be too much for Cal-State Builders.

Summary: Mata threw a 1 hitter before leaving the game after 4 innings to lead the California A’s to their second victory.

Summary: Jeremy Manley struck out 14 on the Bandits way to victory.

Score: Cal-State Builders 17 vs Wasatch Properties 5

Winning Pitcher: Kevin Kammueller

Losing Pitcher: Ryan Brooksby

MVP: Kevin Kammueller

Summary: Donovan Chilton had a triple and a homer to lead Cal-State Builders to a lopsided victory.

Summary: Lacey A’s scored the winning run in the top of the 7th to squeak by the Boise River Dogs

 

Game 12

Score: California A’s  12  Granite Bakery  1

Winning Pitcher: Derek Mayson

Losing Pitcher: Garrett Hone

MVP: Josh Johnson, California A’s

Summary: Josh Johnson hit a 3 run homer in the first as California won their 3rd game to go undefeated in their pool.

Game 13

Score: Lacey A’s  9  Cal-State Builders  3

Winning Pitcher: Brady Woods

Losing Pitcher: Kevin Kammueller

MVP: Kasey Knight, Lacey A's


Summary: Lacey A’s bats came alive for 12 hits as they eliminated Cal-State Builders in the Quarter Final. They face the Pueblo Bandits in the semi-final.

 

 

Game 14

Score: Pueblo Bandits  3  Boise River Dogs  2

Winning Pitcher: Jeremy Manley

Losing Pitcher: Mike

MVP: Shawn Vanduvall, Pueblo Bandits


Summary: Pueblo had homeruns from Peter Zazuela and Shawn Vaduvall in the bottom of the 7th to come from behind and snag the victory. They take on Lacey A’s in the semi-final.

 

 

Game 15

Score: Page Brake  15  Granite Bakery  6

Winning Pitcher: Robby Black

Losing Pitcher: Garrett Hone

MVP: Travis Packard, Page Brake


Summary: Page Brake defeats their home town rival, Granite Bakery, to advance to semi-final the where they will battle the undefeated California A’s

 

 

Game 16

Score: California A’s  13  Wasatch Properties  3

Winning Pitcher: Lucas Tan

Losing Pitcher: Ryan Brooksby

MVP: Nathan Nukunuku, California A's


Summary: Nathan Nukunuku hit 3 homeruns to help keep the California A’s undefeated as they head into the semi-finals where they meet up with Page Brake.

Winning Pitcher: Derek Mayson

Losing Pitcher: Kevin Black

MVP: Marcus Tan, California A’s

Summary: Page Brake held on for 4 innings until California exploded for 6 runs in the bottom of the 5th to eliminate Page with a Run Rule. California moves to the Championship where they will meet the Lacey A’s

Semi-Final Game

Score: Lacey A’s 5 Pueblo Bandits 4

Winning Pitcher: Shawn Koster

Losing Pitcher: Jeremy Manley

MVP: Sean McCauley, Lacey A’s

Summary: Tied at the end of regulation Sean McCauley hit a 2 run homerun in the bottom of the 9th inning to catapult the Lacey A’s into the Championship against the California A’s
