Sooke's Dream Season
The Sooke Loggers continued their torrid pace through the end of June into July with a pair of impressive tournament wins. First, off, they took down the South Hill Giants in the final of the inaugural BC Cup held June 21-23 at South Hill. They followed this up with a 9-6 win over the California A's in the final of the Cali Classic a week later in San Diego. Sooke enters the ISCs in August ranked 7th. |
C/D Provincials
Jason Wright lived up to his nickname "Horse" by going 5-0 in the circle at the recent C/D provincials at Softball City, winning the gold medal with the Rossini's of Vancouver. Recap... |

Win one for the Yipper
For those not aware, Tom Yipp, our beloved local ball field guru who does everything and more to prepare Vancouver fields for game action throughout the season, recently had emergency hernia surgery. He is at home resting and on behalf of the ball community we wish him a speedy recovery and a nice RELAXING return to the ball park in the near future! |

U21 International Tournament
Team Ontario was able to keep the championship within Canada as they knocked off New Zealand in the final of the U21 International Championships in Saskatoon, Sask. recently. BC was eliminated in the playoffs by Alberta and finished out of the medals. Recap:Â

Van Challenge to Cap Local Major Tournies
Vancouver Fastpitch fans will be treated to the final top calibre tournament of the season this weekend as South Hill Sports plays host to the Bob Law Memorial Challenge this weekend, July 19-21. The annual event, always a fan favourite, features five competitive teams, the South Hill Giants, Vancouver Meralomas, Invermere Randy's A's, Sooke Loggers and Argentina's U21 national team. Argentina is returning from competing at the U21 championship in Ssskatoon and are the reigning Jr. World (U20) champions. Friday night kicks off with the opening ceremonies for the Peewee & Midget boys provincials at 6pm with games to follow at 7pm and 9pm. |
