September 8, 2013
Ottawa, ON
In their first season in the GOFL, the Micksburg Twins won the playoff title at the final weekend tournament in Fitzroy Harbour, ON. The eight-team league has a best-of-five playoff round, and the remaining four teams participate in a double knockout tournament to determine the league champion and winner of the I4C Consulting Trophy.
Â
Micksburg Twins were undefeated at the tournament, breaking the three year reign of titles by the Kars Aces. Good crowds were on hand, especially on Friday night to watch the top fastball teams in eastern Ontario play off.
Â
Corey Costello of Micksburg had two of the three pitching victories for the Twins and hit a homerun in each game. Brad Porter for Kars also had a good tournament, winning two games and throwing 22 innings on Saturday.
