Team Canada to Play Exhibition Game
against Hill United Chiefs

(Ottawa, ON) Softball Canada is pleased to announce that the Canadian Men’s National Team will play an exhibition game against the Hill United Chiefs – one of the world’s top club teams – followed by a Team Canada Red/White exhibition game on Friday, June 13th in Ohsweken, ON.

Members of Softball Canada’s Men’s National Team Athlete Pool will hold a training camp June 13-15th in Brampton, ON and will travel to Ohsweken for the games on June 13th to help prepare for the upcoming Pan American Championship that will take place from October 25th to November 2nd in Parana, Argentina.

“Softball Canada’s Men’s National Team welcomes the opportunity to visit the Six Nations area and play against one of the top club teams in the world” said Mike Branchaud, Softball Canada’s Manager – National Teams and Canadian Championships. “We will have 40 players at our Ontario camp so our two games in Ohsweken will be a great opportunity for our players to wear the national team colours and compete for a spot on our Pan American Championship roster.”

Associated with the exhibition games on June 13th, several Team Canada players will conduct a hitting, fielding and pitching clinic for local area youth in Ohsweken, and all Team Canada players will be available for autographs between games. The clinics and games will take place at the Six Nations Parks and Recreation Facilities, located at 1738 Fourth Line Road, Ohsweken, ON. The clinics will begin at 4pm with the Hill United/Canada game at 6:00pm and the Canada Red/White game at 8:00pm. Admission is $5.00 per person, with seniors and minor ball players wearing their team shirt admitted free.

“Hill United is very excited to host the Canadian National Team here in on our home territory. We had an amazing experience with New Zealand in 2012 and look forward to bringing more elite competition to the fans of Six Nations and the surrounding area. The response from the home crowd was overwhelming and we expect much of the same this time.” Hill United Chiefs representative Bryan Porter said. “We want to showcase the highest level of the game to the young players out there, who are the future of this great game.”

Fans are also welcome to attend the Men’s National Team intersquad games in Brampton on Saturday, June 14th in the afternoon. Three games will be played at South Fletcher field in Brampton.
