FASTBALL IS BACK IN GREATER SUDBURY!

                    The Quentin Seeley Re-Max Fastball got its 2014 season underway on Thursday night at the Lorne Brady Memorial Park in Garson . The defending league champions (The Sudbury North Stars) continued where they left in 2013 by trouncing their opponents , the Dog House Restaurant and Sports Bar 8-0. Sophomore , Carter Joncas pitched a one hitter with only 3 men reaching base and he also helped his own cause going 2 for 2 at the plate , one run and one RBI . The North Stars scored 5 runs in the bottom of the third and cruised the rest of the way to a 8-0 victory . Ben Bass also hit 2 for 2 for the winners. Dan McKenzie got the only hit for the Dog House
                               In the nightcap under the lights , the Panthers (last year’s runner-ups) came from behind a three run deficit to tie it in the fifth before scoring six in the seventh and edge the Garson Hounds 9 to 7 . Gary “GNU†Lamothe went all the way for the winners giving up 13 hits and 5 unearned runs . Matt Behn started for the Hounds going 4.2 innings and giving up three earned runs then gave way to Pat Brennan who suffered the loss in relief . Lamothe led the way for the Panthers with a perfect 4 for 4 at the dish (one run and 2 RBI’s) while Todd Parsons hit 3 for 3 (double , run and solo shot to left field) with Eric Legendre hitting 2 for 3 ( run , RBI , 2 stolen bases) both in a losing cause .

                                 Two major tournaments are coming up( details next week) . League action resumes this coming Monday May 25th at the Rick McDonald Memorial Sports Complex in Azilda . In the Opener starting at 7 PM , the Garson Hounds face the Dog House while North Stars battle the Panthers at 9 PM under the lights.
