            ROOKIE CASEY ABITONG LEADS NORTH STARS TO THEIR STRAIGHT VICTORY

                                               In the first of a doubleheader ( 7 pm) , played at the Lorne Brady Memorial Park Garson in Garson on May 29th , rookie pitcher Casey Abitong of the Sudbury North Stars(3-0) , struck out 9 batters , gave up but five hits in defeating their arch rivals the Garson Hounds(1-2) 5 to 1 .. Mike Greslow moving over from last year’s North Stars , suffered the loss giving up all five runs , three unearned and fanning five batters . Veteran short stop Chad St Cyr led the way for the Stars going 1 for 2 at the plate ( 2 run home run , run scored , 3 RBI’s and a sacrifice fly ). Centre fielder Brett Demers hit 2 for 4 for the winners (2 runs) . Greslow hit 2 for 3 in a losing cause for the Hounds .
                                                In the nightcap under the lights ( 9 pm) , the Panthers (2-1) , blasted the Dog House Sports Bar 14 to 6 ( 0-3 ). Gary Lamothe went all the way for the Panthers picking up his second win of the season , striking out 5 , giving up six hits and only 4 earned runs . Bruce McDonald suffered his third straight loss giving up 14 runs ( 4 unearned ) , 5 hits and striking out 3 and issuing 4 base on balls . Brian Kutschke (0-0) came in to relieve in the sixth giving up 4 runs (2 unearned) on 3 hits not issuing a single base on balls . Rookie Alex Savard( left fielder) led all hitters going 2 for 2 ( run , RBI ) with teammates Paul Lauzon ( first baseman) hitting 3 for 4 ( run , triple , RBI ) with catcher Jesse Laundry chipped in with two run shot deep to left field while catcher Brady Loach went 3 for 4 ( double , 3 runs and 2 RBI’s ) in a losing cause for the Dog House ..
                                               Play resumes this coming Monday June the 2nd at the Rick McDonald Memorial Sports Complex in Azilda . In the opener at 7 PM , the Garson Hounds clash with the Panthers while at 9 PM under the lights , the defending league champions , the Sudbury North Stars look to keep their record (3-0) unblemished when hey take on the last place Dog House (0-3) ..

This is the photo of Lucien “Papalu “ Dignard that I failed to put in with my last write up on single game played Monday night in Azilda .This coming Monday June the 9th we will be celebrating his memory ,in Azilda , at the Rick McDonald Memorial Sports Complex at around 9 PM . He was an avid Habs fan all his life .
