                       JONCAS OF THE NORTH STARS CONTINUES TO MASTER THE LEAGUE BATTERS

                       League action continued Thursday night in Garson ..In the opener , the North Stars ran their record to 6-0 and remained in first place with an 8-3 victory over the Dog House (0-6) . Carter Joncas (4-0) went the distance in scattering 9 hits , striking out 8 batters (22 for the season) and not issuing a single walk . Joncas has a fantastic era of 1.33 and a whip of 0.95 . Lanny Fichett pitched the last 2 innings giving up two runs and fanning two batters . Mike Greslow (0-2) went also the distance for the Dog House giving up 8 runs ( 5 unearned ) which once more was the demise of the last place team . Twins Eric and Patrick Landriault both went 2 for 3 while Bruce McDonald hit 2 for 3 in a losing cause for the Dog House .
                          In the nightcap , the young Panthers and the Garson Hounds played to a 9-9 tie . The Panthers led 9-4 going into the bottom of the seventh frame when the Hounds put on their rally caps and scored 5 runs to get a 9-9 draw . Gary Lamothe ( 2-2 ) started for the Panthers giving up 8 runs (2 unearned ) striking out 4 before Brad Matheson (0-0) came in to mop up the five last batters . Veteran Pat Brennan ( 2-2) went the distance for the Hounds all nine runs (2 unearned) on ten hits but he also struck out 13 men( league leading 25 for the season) a new record for a single game in 2014 .. Brad Matheson of the Panthers led his troop with a 3 for 5 performance at bat ( triple , run , 4 RBI’s and 2 stolen bases) with teammate Curtis Brown going 2 for 5 ( both triples ,RBI ) . For the Hounds , Marc Bertrand and brothers Pat and Ed Brennan all hit 2 for 3 .
                            Play will resume on Monday June the 16th in Azilda when the Garson Hounds (2-3-2) take on the Dog House (0-6) at 7 pm that will be followed by the 9pm match, when the North Stars (6-0) take on the Panthers (3-2-2) ..
                             Don’t forget that The 5th Annual Brad Rienguette Memorial Fastball Tournament goes in 7 weeks from now being played at the Rick McDonald Memorial Sports Complex in Azilda on July 26th and 27th . Also the prestigious 28th annual World Senior Fastball tournament ( 17 teams already committed)is up coming on the Labor Day weekend August 30th , 31st and September the 1st also being played in Azilda for the first time .All previous 27 tournaments were played in North Bay .
