The Argentina Men’s National Team continued their dominance of Ontario teams in Springfield Wednesday night with convincing victories over the host Springfield Brewers and the St.Thomas Major Men’s Fastball League All-Stars. Argentina ran their Ontario Tour record to 11 wins-1 loss-2 ties with convincing wins, 4-1 against the Brewers and 10-1 over the MFL All Stars, before a packed crowd in yet another great rural ball park.
Â
Springfield, located near Alymer ,Ontario has taken tremendous strides in building a solid minor softball foundation in recent years. The old park has been totally upgraded, new players benches and covered canopies added, new fences and lights installed and a beautiful community centre constructed to augment the large playground and play apparatus. The crowd of some 400 people was a sea of blue and yellow, the colours of the local minor ball system and the Brewers.
Â
Argentina dazzled the crowd with hit after hit, an array of pitchers and a couple long balls to accentuate their dominance over the local squads. The double blue were also treated to a great bbq and drinks in appreciation of what may have been the benchmark games ever played in Springfield.
Â
Kudos to Mark McCallum, Springfield Minor Softball and a great bunch of local supporters who made a country Wednesday night very special.
Â
The Argentines are back in action this evening with a double header at Budd Park in Kitchener. Game one finds them doing battle with the Kitchener Diamond Jaxx, co-hosts of the ISC World Tournament this August in Kitchener, and the second tilt will feature the Kitchener Fastball League Selects. Both games are being taped for broadcast on Kitchener’s local Rogers station. Game time this evening is 7:00 p.m.
