                                         HOUNDS DEFEAT THE PANTHERS 8-4

                      There was a single game played last evening in the Quentin Seeley Remax Fastball League at the Lorne Brady Memorial Park in Garson .. The Hounds of Garson remained hot with their 5th consecutive win to take a four point lead a top the league standings . They must keep in mind that the dormant North Stars have 5 games in hand . Early the game was close until the Hounds broke out with 5 runs in the middle innings and moved on for the 8-4 victory . Johnny Ainslie ( 4-1 ) went the distance for the Hounds in collecting his 4th victory of the season .He gave up 4 runs ( 3 earned ) on 8 hits while striking 4 and issuing 4 walks . Gary “GNU “ Lamothe ( 4-4 ) also went the distance for the 3rd place Panthers giving up 8 runs ( 4 unearned ) on 9 hits while fanning 2 and not issuing a single walk . Once again Eddy Roy league leading hitter at 682 and on a tear , went 3 for 4 ( run , rbi ) with teammates Eddy Brennan going 2 for 3 ( run , solo HR , rbi ) and Johnny Ainslie helping his own cause chipping in with a 2 for 4 performance ( run , rbi ) . Rylan Stolar hit 1 for 3 ( run , solo HR , rbi ) in a losing cause for the Panthers ..
                          Following the night’s opener , all four teams assembled on the diamond with the commissioner Bryan Welsh and honored Roger Legendre for his 50 years of dedication to fastball in the Greater City of Sudbury . Roger was touched and very appreciative for a game he loves more every day .
                           The nightcap between the North Stars ( in hiatus for the last 2 weeks ) and the 4th place Dog House got underway and with the North Stars leading 3-1 going into the bottom of the fourth was then called when several lights went out ..It will be played in its entirety at a later date .
                            We wish good look to any teams from the league or the North Shore playing in the 35th annual Fastball Tournament in Huntsville starting today till Sunday afternoon .
                             All teams from here at home and out of town are reminded that the Brad Rienguette Fastball Tournament is to be played on July 26 and 27 in Azilda at the Rick McDonald Memorial Sports Complex . The deadline for entry at $425 is only 8 days away on July the 19th . The opening ceremonies under the direction of Chris Peters from the Lockerby Legion gets underway on Saturday July the 26th at 10 am where we expect all teams to be present and participate . The two other tournaments are the All Ontario Native Fastball tournament in Perry Island on August 23rd , 24th and 25th ( 60 teams expected ) and the 28th annual World Senior Men’s Fastball tournament on the Labor Day weekend ( August 29 ,30 and 31st ) in Azilda for the first time .
