Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Two of the league teams will now sport a new name . TheÂ Sudbury North Stars will now be known as theÂ AQUATECH NORTH STARSÂ while the Garson Hounds will be called the NORTHERN WATER SERVICES GARSON HOUNDS .

Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â THE AQUATECH NORTH STARS ARE BACK IN TOWN

Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â After a 14 day hiatus plus one postponed game last Thursday in Garson , the Aquatech North Stars are back in the groove and stronger . Monday night July the 14th in Azilda at the Rick McDonald Memorial Sports Complex , they took both games of a doubleheader . In the opener at 7 pm , the Stars took a strong 10-3 lead after just 2 innings of play and held on for a 12-9 victory over their longtime arch rivals the Northern Water Services Garson Hounds . Lanny Fichett ( 3-0 ) of the Stars , went the distance giving up 9 runs ( 2 unearned ) on 8 hits while strikingÂ out 5 and issuing 6 walks ( 1 intentional ) . John Ainslie ( 4-2 ) of the Hounds also went the distanceÂ in giving up 12 runs ( 3 unearned )on 12 hits while fanning 4 and issuing 3 walks ( 1 intentional ) . Joel Belanger , center fielder for the North Stars had a perfect night at the plate with a 4 for 4 performance (2 runs , 1 steal ) with teammatesÂ Mark Cain ( run , triple , 4 rbiÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s ) hitting 2 for 2 and Chad St Cyr ( 2 runsÂ , rbi ) going 2 for 3 . Ed Brennan ( 2 doubles , 3 rbiÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s ) and Sylvain Ouellette ( double , 2 rbiÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s ) both hit 2 for 4 in a losing cause for the Hounds ..

Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â In the nightcap , the improved Dog House , held the North Stars to a one run lead (6-5 ) after 4 innings but the always strong bats of the Stars came through in the 6th as they scored 5 runs to win going away 11-5 . After an absence of a few days , Carter Joncas ( 6-1 ) returned to the mound for the Stars picking up hisÂ 6th win of the season giving up 5 runs ( 4 earned ) on 8 hits while string out 7 and not issuing a single walk .Â Jonathan Contin ( 0-0 ) in his first outing of the season went the distance for the Dog House giving up 11 runs ( 3 unearned ) on 6 hitsÂ while fanning 7 and issuing 4 walks .. Ben Bast ( run , inside the park home run , 2 rbiÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s ) led the way for the StarsÂ hit 1 for 2Â with teammate Mark Cain ( run , triple , 2 rbiÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s ) hit 1 for 3 while Brian Kutchke (Â 2 runs , double ) hit 2 for 2 in a losing cause for the Dog House . The North Stars are now tied for first place with Garson Hounds at 19 points with the Stars having 4 games in hand ..

Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â League play resumes on Thursday July the 17th in Garson at the Lorne Brady Memorial Park when again the Aquatech North Stars will play another doubleheader .. In the opener at 7 pm they take on the Â PanthersÂ followed by the nightcapÂ at 9 pm when once again they clash with Dog House .

Â Â The Brad Rienguette Memorial Fastball tournament is fast approaching . In 11 days the classic tournament gets underway in Azilda at the Rick McDonald Memorial Sports Complex .. The deadline for entry at $425 is this coming Saturday July the 19th . The tournament gets underway on Saturday July the 26th . Opening ceremonies will be held on Saturday July the 26th at 10 am . We call upon all former ball players from the past as well as friends of Brad to come out for the opening ceremonies and stay to enjoy the games .For any further information or details of the tournament please contact Dan Quesnel at quazzycer@hotmail.com or Roger Legendre at roger.legendre@hotmail.com .. The final draw for the schedule should be out this Sunday July theÂ 20th or at the latest Monday morning July the 21st . .Get cracking !
