Alvinston Indians Win Now Play ST Thomas In Finals starting sunday Night

INDIANS CLOSE OUT GLANWORTH

Game four in Glanworth on Thursday evening wasÂ a chilly one, but a great crowd was on hand, as Alvinston was at Glanworth, with a chance to close out the series.Â

McKillop forÂ Glanworth and Crawford for Alvinston took the mound, and did not disappoint once again,Â as they both turned in dominating performances.Â

Glanworth tallied first whenÂ Derek Stafford who doubled, was singledÂ home by Jeff Laidlaw in the bottom of the second inning.Â Alvinston repliedÂ quickly in the topÂ of the third to knot the game at one's, when Craig Lyons singled and eventually scored onÂ a 2 out RBI single up the middle by Brad Cooper.Â

Both pitchers kept the opposing offences at bay, until the top of the seventh inning, whenÂ Jamie Shields walked for Alvinston to leadÂ off theÂ inning.Â Craig Lyons sacrificed, but an error put runners on first and second with nobodyÂ out.Â The next hitter was Ryan Chapman, and he drove in Shields for what was the game winning run.Â Aaron Stocking sealed the series win, with a three run bomb, as the game finished 5-1 in favour of Alvinston.Â

Kyle Crawford was the winning pitcher for the Indians, allowing one earned run on five hits, with one walk in seven innings of work, while striking out 11Â Gators.Â Â Jake McKillopÂ and Glanworth played a heck ofÂ a series, and provided entertaining and close games for the fans to enjoy, and they should be commended for their effortsÂ as a team this year.Â

The finals in the St. Thomas & District Major Fastball League open up on Sunday in Alvinston against the St. Thomas Storm at 7:15pm.Â The series will be a bestÂ three out of five series and should be a dandy.Â St. Thomas defeated Shedden three games to none in the other semi final to reach the playoff final.Â Game 2 goes Monday inÂ Fingal at 7:30pm.Â Dress warm and come out and enjoy the playoff championship series!
