USA Softball Men's National Team roster announced for ISF World Championship and return to Pan American Games

OKLAHOMA CITY - Seventeen athletes will wear "USA" across their chest this summer as a member of the USA Softball Men's National Team, the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) of America and USA Softball announced today. Twenty-seven men's fast pitch players participated in the selection camp in Irvine, Calif. over the weekend, where they were evaluated by members of the Men's National Team Selection Committee.  The athletes selected will compete later this summer in the International Softball Federation (ISF) Men's World Championship in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada as well as the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

"I think this roster is going to produce a very strong team," said Men's National Team Head Coach Denny Bruckert (Gillespie, Ill.).  "Our pitching staff is solid, probably the strongest I've seen in a while, and our defense will be fundamentally sound.  We've still got to improve on our offense a bit and work on limiting strikeouts at the plate, but overall it's a strong roster that's ready to prove itself this summer."

In all, 14 veterans and three rookies make up the 2015 USA Men's National Team roster that will compete in two international competitions this summer.  Team USA qualified for both the ISF Men's World Championship and 2015 Pan American Games after placing fourth at the IX Conpasa Men's Fastpitch Panam Championship in Parana, Argentina in October.  The U.S. Men finished with a 4-4 record and as a team compiled a .175 batting average.

With Denny Bruckert at the helm of the Men's Program, the U.S. coaching staff also includes Greg Hicks (Bakersfield, Calif.), Gregg Leather (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Nick McCurry (Ashland, Ohio).
