The Golden Homes Black Sox Assistant Manager, Jayden Moore, has been appointed Manager of the team heading into the 2017 World Championship.
Moore has been involved in softball for 33 years and holds many years of managerial experience. He has been the Canterbury Red Sox Manager for seven years and has been involved with the Black Sox since 2007 as a Manager, Assistant Manager and Support Services Coordinator.
Moore has a wealth of knowledge of the Black Sox culture and environment. He has attended eleven national and international tours with the side, including three world championships. "I'm confident in my ability and feel the time is now right for me to step up", says Moore.
"I find it is often important to be the quiet guy in the background, solving problems and potential conflicts before anyone notices them so the players and coaches are able to concentrate on what they do best."
His exceptional logistical skills are accompanied with a great understanding of the game and the various situations faced by both players and coaches. Moore will be instrumental in assisting the Black Sox on their journey to regain the world title.
Canterbury-based coach, Carl Tuinenga, has been appointed Head Coach of the New Zealand Girls Emerging Sox team.
Tuinenga has coached representative softball for over ten years and has been the Canterbury Red Hawks Head Coach since 2011.
He has been the coach of the New Zealand Development Girls since 2013 and has a focus of helping young players further their softball careers. "With the assistance of a strong management team it is my goal to introduce these players to international softball and assist in building them into future national players."
Tuinenga will look to work closely with the Junior White Sox management to provide a solid platform for the future.
