Less than a month away and here is the latest update on the Las Vegas Road Trip IX. At this time there are 32 teams confirmed to play. Teams from Canada, Mexico, and the United States are all represented at the tournament. The event will be held April 8-10, 2016.

The schedule has been set and all divisions will use the 3-game guarantee NAFA bracket. The championship games are scheduled for 3:00 PM on Sunday with "IF" games immediately after if necessary.  As with any tournaments these are the scheduled times and games may push back a bit during the course of the day so please plan flights accordingly.

The tournament will be using NAFA rules and the special rules attached.  Please keep in mind that you can bat up to 10 players using the Extra Hitter (EH) and also have a Designated Runner (DR).

If your normal routine is to have a conference with all your players before the first pitch, please do that before the coin flip or better yet, while the game before you is in play so we can keep games running as close to on-time as possible. The umpires will be instructed to get you moving and start the game without wasting anytime.  Also, keep your teams moving in and out of the dugouts as quickly as possible.  The courtesy runner for the catcher is there for a reason, to get their gear on while the inning is in play and not after the last out.

Regarding bats; this tournament will use the ASA Testing and Certification Program along with compression testing. SCIFL 2016 decal stickers will be provided for passing bats.

The official bat in ASA Championship Play must meet all of the requirements of Rule 3, Section 1 and:
1. The Official bat must bear either the ASA approved 2000 certification mark , the ASA 2004 certification mark as shown below, or the ASA 2013 Certification Mark (Slow Pitch ONLY) as shown below and must not be listed on an ASA Non-Approved Bat List with Certification Marks, and

2. must be included on a list of approved bat models published by the ASA National Office; or
3. must, in the sole opinion and discretion of the umpire, have been manufactured prior to 2000 and if tested, would comply with the ASA bat performance standards then in effect. This includes Wooden Bats

All bats in ASA Championship Play, except Seniors, must pass the ASA Bat Performance Standard. All bats having the 2000, 2004 or 2013(Slow Pitch, Men's Adult Fast Pitch, Junior Olympic Boy's Fast Pitch and Men's Modified Pitch ONLY) Certification Mark and not listed on the list of Non-Approved bats with Certification marks will be allowed in ASA Championship Play. Bats with the 2013 Certification Mark will be allowed in Slow Pitch National Championship Play Only. For your convenience, the ASA website has a listing of all approved bats and bats that have ASA Certification Marks and are no longer approved; see attached ASA Non-Approved Bat List with Certification Marks.
In 2016 the Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA)/USA Softball, the National Governing Body of Softball in the United States, in working with Easton Baseball/Softball Inc. (Easton), announced today that Easton is voluntarily removing the following softball bat models from the ASA/USA list of certified bats: SCN1, SCN11BH, SCN1B, SCN2B, SCN3, SCN4B, SCN5, SCN5B, SCN6B, SCN7, SCN7B, SCN8, SCN8B, SCN9, SCX14, SCX14B, SCX24B, AND SCX3. This tournament will restrict the Easton bats that were removed.

SCIFL tamper proof decal stickers will be utilized at this event so each bat will need to be tested prior to use. In order for a bat to be tested it must meet the ASA Testing and Certification Program by having 1) the ASA Certification Mark, 2) it is not on the Non-Approved Bat List, and 3) passes compression.

Once the bat passes its testing it will be given an SCIFL 2016 tamper proof decal sticker. Bats that do not have a tamper proof decal sticker will not be allowed in the game. Players should not try to take the tamper proof decal sticker off because any bat with a sticker that looks like it’s been tampered with will not be allowed in play.

In order to start the games on time please arrive at least 45 minutes prior to game time so we can test your bat and provide passing bats with a tamper proof decal sticker for umpires to check on the field.

The tournament will be played at Sunset Park fields. Please use the SCIFL web site www.scifastpitch.com for maps and addresses.  They are listed under park locations on the home page’s left hand side or by clicking on this link http://scifastpitch.com/schedule/ParkLocations.htm
