Saskatoon, SK -The Saskatoon Amateur Softball Association, is pleased to announce we will be hosting 3 major national and International events this summer.


   

The Saskatoon Amateur Softball Association, is pleased to announce we will be hosting 3 major national and International events this summer.

Saskatoon is at again. After hosting the most successful World Men's Softball Championship ever, the softball community is about highlight the future stars of the men's national team, this summer, in 3 events.

New Zealand International Softball Academy will be touring Saskatchewan with games in Saskatoon July 5th, Prince Albert July 6th, Delisle July 7th and Fleming on July 8th. They will be taking on the host team for the 2016 CO-OP U18 Men's Canadian Softball Championship, Saskatoon Selects.


The ISA New Zealand tour team has 10 boys who have been selected all stars in various New Zealand age group tournaments The team is from all around New Zealand, from near the bottom of the South Island up to Auckland in the North. Island. The Head Coach, Rob Siolo, and is the current Samoan National Team coach

August 9-14 2016 CO-OP U18 Men's Canadian Softball Championship featuring the 12-14 of the best U18 teams in the country. We have teams confirmed from coast to coast from BC to Newfoundland, Nova and New Brunswick. This event has produced many great players at the National team level. The last time this event was here was in 2007. That championship saw last year's World's hero Devon McCullough pitch the Saskatoon Selects to a bronze medal. He led the Selects to 2 consecutive gold medals in his next 2 seasons in the category. Joining McCullough from the 2007 championship was
the leadoff hitter from the World Champions, Mathieu Roy, as well 2016 national team athletes pool member Scot Lieph and Kyle Ezekiel. Many of the stars of this event will be representing Canada at the WBSC World Junior Men's Softball Championship in Michigan later in August.

August 10-14 Saskatoon will be hosting 8-10 teams in the U14 Boy's Canadian Softball Championship. This will be the first ever U14 boy's national championship and will provide about 150 boys a chance to shine on the national stage. This event will not only highlight the development of the boy's game in Canada but it also be a source of inspiration that spur on future boy's development. This championship is held at the exact spot where Canada's won it first ever Men's World Championship on home soil. With the U18 championship going on at the same time in the same complex young teens will be able to view the next level of male softball, the one that leads to the Canada Games and the Junior Men's World championship.
