Surrey, BC - White Sox beaten by world champs


New Zealand’s winning run at the Women’s World Softball Championships in Surrey, Canada came to an end today with a 9-2 loss to two-time reigning world champions Japan.

Japan who had recently beaten New Zealand 10-0 at the World Cup of Softball in Oklahoma were up against a tougher kiwi side today who kept the game close until the 6th inning when the Japanese ran riot and the mercy rule come into effect. Across the park on diamond one China beat Australia 2-0 knocking the Aussies out of the tournament. The result will be extremely disappointing for the Australians who have historically been a top 3 finisher for many years at this event.
