The Temperzone Junior Black Sox bounced back from their loss to Japan yesterday with an 11-1 victory over Mexico in 6 innings at the WBSC Junior Men’s World Championship in Midland, USA.

 

New Zealand took the lead thanks to a third inning rally that saw three runs cross home plate on a passed ball, a groundout by Reilly Makea, and an RBI single by Jarome McKenzie.

 

In the fifth and sixth inning the New Zealanders got into their groove and hit four-run rallies. The kiwis scored runs in the sixth on a two-run home run by Jacob Zurcher an error, and an RBI single by Zac BOYD.

 

Makea racked up three RBIs on two hits for New Zealand. He homered in the fifth inning and singled in the sixth inning.

 

Mexico couldn't get anything going as long as Daniel Chapman was on the rubber. Chapman held Mexico hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three.

 

Bailey Hamilton recorded the win for the Juniors allowing one run over four innings. Hamilton struck out five, walked one and gave up four hits.

 

New Zealand have 3 wins from 4 games and will now play South Africa tomorrow at 6am.
