Urbaneja and Scott lead Scarborough Force over the A-1 Bombers

MOLINE, IL – Erick Urbaneja drove in the go-ahead run, Don Scott made it stand up, and the Scarborough Force defeated the A-1 Bombers, 4-3, Wednesday night in a battle of the unbeatens.

The win improves Scarborough to 3-0, while the Bombers slip to 2-1 in the ISC World Tournament at Green Valley Sports Complex.

Scarborough joins the New York Gremlins, Toronto Gators, and Hill United Chiefs as the remaining undefeated teams left in the tournament. And Thursday night in the two featured games of the day, Scarborough meets the defending ISC World Tournament champions Chiefs at 8 p.m., while Toronto and the Gremlins will battle in the earlier game at 6.

For a chance to win the tournament, the A-1 Bombers move into the loser’s bracket where they take on the Kingston Axemen (3-1), Thursday at 2 p.m.

Scarborough jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the third on Bruno Motroni’s two-run double down the right-field line, and he later scored on a wild pitch. But the Bombers pulled even on Gilbert Saenz’s solo home run in the bottom half of the third, and Tyler Dudley hit a two-run shot in the fourth.

After Dudley’s home run, Scott relieved Force starter Juan Potolicchio and was stellar the rest of the way, giving up just four hits, no walks and striking out three to get the win – his first in the tournament.

The left-side hitting Urbaneja made a winner out of Scott and Scarborough by drilling a shot up the middle that scored Bryon Johnson with the winning run in the sixth. Johnson walked and moved to third on a stolen base and wild pitch to set up Urbaneja’s game-winner.
