Black and Harkness named Durham College student-athletes of the week
OSHAWA, Ont. - Brodie Harkness (Bowmanville, Ont.) and Ashley Black (Waterloo, Ont.) have been named the Durham College student-athletes of the week presented by Subway.
Harkness, a second year general arts major, tied the OCAA record for the most strikeouts in a single game. He struck out 13, topping his previous best eight strikeouts against Seneca last season. Durham swept George Brown in their first two home games of the season.
Black, a human resources major, threw a one-hitter through five innings in lopsided 19-0 win over the Seneca Sting. Black struck out 12 in her first game back with the Lords as only two Sting hitters reached base. Durham came out of the weekend with two promising wins being 19-0 and 35-0.
The women's softball team will play host to Conestoga on Tuesday night and the men's baseball team will travel south to face the Erie Kats on Wednesday before St. Clair and Fanshawe on the weekend.
The Durham College athlete of the week awards are presented by Subway located at 2069 Simcoe Street North in Oshawa.
