#OCC2016 The conclusion of the 2016 Laverne Reichert Memorial Ontario Challenge Cup brings down the curtain on another season here in ISC Canada East.
Â
We congratulate Innerkip Expos for winning the 2016 OCC and a paid berth in the 2017 ISC World Tournament in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Â
Innerkip prevailed in a hard-fought championship game with Shakespeare Falcons, who were making their third-straight appearance in the OCC Championship game, and were looking to regain the title they won in 2014.
Â
The Expos' Kyle Crawford was 5-0 on the weekend with a 2.10 ERA, pitching 26.2 innings and striking out 42.
Â
Jeff Lyons garnered a Triple Crown for the Expos with 9 hits in 14 Abs, for a .643 batting average, scoring 9 runs with 4 home runs and 13 RBIs.
Â
We thank all 12 teams that joined us in Glanworth for the weekend, as we brought a major men's fastball tournament to Glanworth Park for the first time, to the delight of fans who came out over the course of the weekend.Â
Â
Randy Gray and the Glanworth Gators team did a FANTASTIC JOB as rookie hosts, coping with persistent rain on Saturday, but persevering and ensuring we got the schedule completed. A big thank you to all teams for their patience as we waited out the weather and their commitment to playing in the conditions that they did.
Â
Fred Malatches put together a great blue crew of George Lemaich, Mike D'Abreu, Rob Straetmans, Brad Whalen, Justin Van Horn, Rick Boyd, Paul Verheye and Mike Brito. Thank you for your outstanding work!Â
Â
Â
We also thank Al Doran for helping us share our results worldwide and for Mal Swift, pinch-hitting for Kyle Smith on a last-minute basis.
Â
We want to wish all of the teams, players, umpires and fans a wonderful off-season. Stay tuned for news on the 2017 season coming soon.
Â
Best regards,Â
Â
Blair Setford & Joe Todd
