OKLAHOMA CITY — The world’s best softball will return to Oklahoma City this summer with the World Cup of Softball XII and Border Battle IX taking over the ASA Hall of Fame Complex - OGE Energy Field - INTEGRIS Field from June 30 to July 2 and July 5 to July 9. The World Cup of Softball will be highlighted by the top four teams in the world while the Border Battle will pit the USA Softball Men’s Slow Pitch National Team against Canada.  All-session tickets for both events are on sale by phone at 800-654-8337 or online at USASoftball.com.

 

“The World Cup of Softball and Border Battle ticket packages provide softball fans the opportunity to catch each pitch at a great price,” said USA Softball Director of Membership Services John Miller.  “We’re excited to welcome the top competition in international softball to the Softball Capital of the World®, and we know that these National Teams will put on a great show for the fans in the stands.  With the added excitement of softball returning to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, this also provides fans the opportunity to meet and watch what could be the future Olympians at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.”

 

Fans will start the week with the ninth-annual Men’s Border Battle from June 30 to July 2, which will feature round-robin games between the USA Softball Men’s Slow Pitch National Team, the USA Softball Men’s Futures Slow Pitch National Team, Team Canada and several USA Softball-registered teams.  The five-day event will be highlighted by Border Battle IX, where Team USA will look to keep Border Battle bragging rights on July 1.  In addition to the Border Battle, the USA Softball Men’s Slow Pitch National Team and the USA Softball Men’s Futures Slow Pitch National Team will also be competing in Oklahoma City in the Slow Pitch Showdown on July 2. 

 

The 2017 World Cup of Softball, a World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC)-sanctioned event, will be held from July 5 to July 9 and features six of the Top 10 teams in the world: No 1. ranked Japan, No. 2 USA, No. 3 Canada, No. 4 Australia, No. 7 Puerto Rico and No. 10 Mexico.  Also scheduled to participate are the No. 17 ranked Philippines and the USA Softball Junior Women’s National Team (JWNT).  The complete Border Battle and World Cup of Softball game schedule, special promotions, autograph sessions with the USA Softball teams, and media schedule will be announced at a later date.

 

All-session tickets for Border Battle are $12 for both adult and youth tickets, while the World Cup of Softball has two all-session ticket packages.  Adult all-session tickets are $40 while youth all-session tickets are $20.  All tickets are for general admission seating and allow the ticket holder to watch all games held on the respective date.  Tickets can be purchased by phone at 800-654-8337 or online at USASoftball.com.  Single-session tickets will go on sale at a later date.

 

The 2017 USA Softball Women’s National Team and the JWNT training team rosters were named in January as 20 athletes have been selected to represent the Red, White and Blue on the Women’s National Team.  An additional 24 athletes have been named to the USA Softball JWNT Training team.  The rosters for the 2017 USA Softball Men’s Slow Pitch and Future’s National Teams will be announced at a later date.
