Gerald Muizelaar to be inducted into East Hants Sports Heritage Hall of Fame

Gerald grew up in Shubenacadie starting his minor ball in East Hants. Gerald was a talented athlete, excelling in both basketball and softball. Gerald now resides in North Dakota, but is excited to be coming home for the Hall of Fame ceremony with his family in July.

Gerald is an all-around athlete, and simply one of softball’s greats.

As a student at HERH, Gerald was a 3-time Athlete of the Year from 1991-1993, helping the Tigers basketball and softball programs to provincial championships. In 1993 Gerald was named to both the Nova Scotia Canada Games Basketball and Softball teams. After being forced to choose one over the other he helped lead Nova Scotia to a silver medal in softball at the Canada Games. In basketball, Gerald was a member of the Acadia Axemen basketball program, and won a Manitoba Collegiate Championship with Providence in 1995-1996.

At the Senior softball level, Gerald won a Canadian Championship with the Halifax Jaguars in 1999, and has competed with both the Canadian and American National Programs. With Canada Gerald won an ISF World Softball Championship silver medal in 2004. Gerald has also competed with the United States at the 2013 ISF Championship and 2015 Pan American Games. Gerald has won 3 ISC World Club Championships (Broken Bow), 2 ASA Championships, and has been named ISC All World Pitcher 8 times, and Most Valuable Pitcher 3 times.

We are excited to welcome Gerald and his family who will be travelling from North Dakota for Tide Fest weekend!
