Lords split final doubleheader of regular season against Falcons

Game One: Fanshawe defeated Durham 6-3

Game Two: Durham defeated Fanshawe 8-6

OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham College softball team can now focus on the OCAA championship after wrapping up conference play on Tuesday night.

Durham defeated the Fanshawe Falcons 8-6 in the second half of their doubleheader after losing 6-3 to start the night.

Ashley Black (Waterloo, Ont.) took the loss for the Lords over five innings. She allowed five runs, four earned, on seven hits. Emily Glendinning (Plattsville, Ont.) threw two innings in relief, allowing one earned run on two hits and two walks.

Jacey Lochert pitched the complete game for the Falcons in the win.

Marina Christie's (Pickering, Ont.) hot bat continued for Durham as she was 3-for-3 from the plate. Unfortunately, she had three of the four Lords hits.

In the second half of the doubleheader Emily Hill (Ohsweken, Ont.) entered the game in relief and earned the victory over four innings. She allowed two earned runs on five hits, while striking out six Falcons.

Glendinning started the game, pitching just one inning. Fanshawe scored four earned runs on a walk and four hits.

Christie was a perfect 3-for-3 with an RBI and a walk in the game, while Sabrina Stalteri (Vaughan, Ont.) was 2-for-4 with two RBI, a walk and three runs scored.

Ali Bergman took the loss over 2.1 innings of work, allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits and three walks. At the plate Lochert was 2-for-4 with three RBI, a double, a triple and a run scored.

Durham will now travel to Brampton for the OCAA championship this weekend. Up against the host Humber Hawks to open the two-day tournament, the Lords are two-time defending champions. They won in 2015 at Durham College and 2016 in Kitchener.
