   Metro reversed recent form with a surprise 5-2 win overchampion side Ramblers while Otahuhu's rise continued with a 6-5 win overhost Marist and a 2-1 win against Howick.
   The round-robin series, with the women playing for theDoreen Hutchings Memorial, will continue daily until the finals onTuesday, making it the longest club event in the country.
   Ramblers bounced back to beat Otahuhu 8-0 while Ramblerscoasted to a 3-1 win over close rival Waitakere Bears.
   Today's feature matches will be Bears v Metro at 12.30 andRamblers v United at 3.30pm. Games will start at 9.30 with the last gamesat 5pm.

   Unbeaten Metro and hard-hitting Ramblers seem set to meet inthis afternoon's Brother Patrick Memorial fastpitch softball final atPenrose, but faced stiff opposition from surprise side Otahuhu which hadonly one loss going into the side's crucial game with Metro. Metromaintained its unbeaten record.
   Otahuhu's giant-killing run continued with a thrilling 3-2win over the strong Waitakere Bears with all the other sides well out ofcontention for the top two finish in today's 2pm final. Otahuhu surviveda furious last inning attack by Bears with an outstanding outfield catchand finished with a double play.
   After a seven home run assault on United the previous night,Ramblers could manage only a 1-0 win over host side Marist. Danish starFrederick Terkelson hit a lead-off home run in the first and JeromeHaretuku's hit spoiled a perfect game for Japanese pitcher TengoTerui.
   United, previously considered a key challenger, managed onlyone win in the round robin, then lost another win by playing anunregistered player against Auckland Marist.
   Te Atatu Roosters, in the club's first tilt at top levelwomen's play, downed Otahuhu in the biggest upset of the season whileMarist and Bears maintained their march to the women's final at noontoday.
