Softball Australia appoints Mark McAllionas Chief Executive Officer
Softball Australia is pleasedto announce that following a comprehensive recruitment process, Mark McAllion hasbeen appointed as Chief Executive Officer.
Mark McAllion has extensiveexperience in the sports industry spanning 17 years holding previous managementpositions at Cricket Victoria, Cricket Australia and Tennis Australia. MrMcAllion was critical in the development of Tennis Australia’s newCommunity Tennis strategy and oversaw substantial growth in cricket through themanagement of Cricket Australia’sJunior Cricket programs.
The President of Softball Australia, Harvey Milson, is delighted with the appointment stating “MrMcAllion will bring a vast range of experience to the sport and is an excellentchoice for the important task of modeling softball in Australia.”
“His experience in managingelite competitions and development programs, in particular club development,talent identification and participation growth reflects the confidence theBoard has in his ability to help push the sport forward,” said Mr Milson.
Mr McAllion said that he is thrilledto be given the opportunity to lead Softball Australia in the roleas CEO.
“With a passionate andcommittee volunteer base to drive the growth of softball at the grassrootslevel, a quality high performance program striving for elite success, andstate/territory associations committed to developing the sport, I look forwardto leading the next phase of softball in Australia.”
Mr McAllion will commence in hisrole as Chief Executive Officer on Monday 26 February 2007, replacing outgoing Chief Executive Officer, Susan Crow whoconcluded at Softball Australia in Januaryof this year.
