Alvinston, ON - - Aces win Go to Finals

The Chippewa Chiefs gave the Alvinston Aces all they could handle in Alvinston for game 3 of their best 3 out of 5 series, on Tuesday night in Alvinston.

Alvinston scored first when Bryan Johnson walked, stole second base, and then scored on a Rowan Lam RBI single. In the top of the third inning however, Chippewa squared matters, when Joey Doxtator scored on a Avery Doxtator single. Then in the top of the fourth, Chippewa took the lead on a solo bomb by Wyatt Kachego. In the sixth inning, Wyatt did it again, when he doubled into the gap to plate the third run, and give Chippewa a 3-1 lead.

Alvinston clawed closer in the bottom of the sixth, when Chris Drew reached first on a pass ball on strike three, and eventually came around to score on a Jamie Shields single. In the seventh inning, Alvinston fought hard to square matters, when Bryan Johnson walked, and then eventually scored on an RBI groundout by Rowan Lam. In the bottom of the 8th, Calvin Ritchie would eventually come around to score on a bases loaded walk by Joe Triest, which ended the game, and the series.

Justin Doxtator suffered the loss in relief of Scott Kennedy who started for Chippewa. Taylor Degraw went the distance for Alvinston to earn the win, allowing three earned runs on six hits, with 2 walks, and 15 strikeouts, in eight innings of pitching. Bryan Johnson had 4 walks on the night for Alvinston, as Alvinston only had 5 hits, but did walk 9 times in the come-from-behind win.

Alvinston will play either Highgate or Appin in the finals of the SMMFL.
