Aces Take series Lead with 9 - 4 win
The Alvinston Aces fell behind 3-0 to Appin on Friday night on home turf, but erased the three run deficit, en route to a 9-4 win over Appin.Â

Taylor Degraw was the winning pitcher in the game, allowing 3 earned runs on 7 hits, with 6 walks, and 10 strikeouts. Jeff Lyons suffered the loss for Appin. Â

A big bottom of the third inning where Alvinston scored five runs, was a pivotal turning point in the contest. Robbie Black led off with a walk, and Andy Triest singled, and both runners scored on a Bryan Johnson RBI single that was misplayed by the centrefielder. Joe Triest then followed with a single to put two runners on. Rowan Lam then walked to load the bases, and Johnson scored on an RBI double play groundout by Ryan Chapman. Jamie Shields then followed with an RBI single to score Joe Triest, and Robbie Black singled home Chapman who was running for Shields for the fifth run of the inning.  Â

Then, in the bottom of the fourth inning, Joe Triest walked with one out, which set the stage for Rowan Lam who clubbed a two run homerun, and gave Alvinston a 7-3 lead. Alvinston allowed one run in the fifth to make it 7-4, but scored two more in the bottom of the sixth, for a 9-4 lead, which was the final score. Â

Andy and Joe Triest were both 2/3 in the contest, while Rowan Lam was 1/1 with the run homerun and three walks. Jamie Shields was also 2/4 in the game, while Robbie Balck was 1/2 with a walk. Â
